About

Hi, I’m Rachel! I live and work in Fort Collins, Colorado. Like most artists, I’ve enjoyed drawing and painting since childhood. However, before embarking on my professional art career, I trained and worked as a registered nurse. I began formal artistic training in the academic style in 2018, which is when I found that a meticulous anatomist’s approach translates well from medicine to drawing and painting. I remained in healthcare through the Covid 19 pandemic, and took the long-awaited leap in 2023 to pivot from nursing to art.

~ Artist Statement ~

I am a realist painter who manipulates color and light to celebrate the subject. This means that I work from life and photographs, but use imaginative accents to capture the essence of a scene. I would describe my style as “emotional realism.” Through my work, I hope to show that the places we inhabit, the things we cherish, and the plants and animals that we love may all be considered part of the portrait of ourselves.
